BASIC INFORMATION
The Association also has three administrators.It has a membership of
140 corporate members.
Members' main manufactured products include : Disposable medical
materials (gauze, bandages, surgical caps and gowns,catheters, hypodermic
syringes and needles, various types of bandages,gloves) ; hospital equip-
ment(infant incubators, surgical tables, surgicallamps, diagnostic/dental
X-ray equipment,dental/ophthalmic examination treatment units, laboratory
equipment , pharmaceuticals packaging equipment , number callers ) ;
therapeutic materials ( manual/electrical wheelchairs, electric buggies,
crutches , artificial limps , knee/wrist supports ) , medical equipment
(biochemical analysis, blood glucosemeter, Lithotripter sphygmomanometer
( electronic/ mercury ) , thermometers ( electronic/ mercury ) ultrasonic
diagnostic equipment, T.E.N.SNUnit, Electro Stimulator diagnostic tests
( pregnancy tests , CEA , PSA, Hepatitis A/B/C ) ; biochemical materials
(hip replacements, osteopathic pins, osteopathic boards , contact lenses
and pharmaceuticals).
DEVELOPMENT
The Taiwan Medical Association was established in February 1953. Its
original membership was of manufacturers of medical gauze,cotton bandages
and other disposable products for medical use; it was originally named
the Taiwan Province Medical Bandages Industry Association. Since that
time, the Association has changed its name four times, due to alterations
to the structure of the industry and redrawing of administrative
boundaries. In 1995,it was named the Taiwan Medical Industry Association,
which is the name it presently uses.
SERVICES
1. Promotion and exchange for domestic and international technical
cooperation.
2. Assisting members in promoting their products in local and intern-
ational markets ( processing export certification, posting members
catalogs to overseas firms).
3. Performing commissions from the government, legal entities and
Association members.
4. Assisting foreign and domestic firms in obtaining information on
members' products.
ACTIVITIES REPORT
1. An annual general meeting of association members is called at a
date in April or May.
2. Associate Organizer of the Taiwan International Medical Materials
Fair ( 1996 December 8~12 ) organized by the Taiwan Medical Asso-
